3rd Annual Civic Festival: Violence

Date and time

September 14, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

About this event

The Center for the Study of Citizenship will host the third annual Civic Festival and Constitution Day. The festival celebrates the signing of the US Constitution in 1787 and civic engagement.

The theme this year is violence in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1967 uprising. Through music, DJ Peter Croce uses sound to explore what it means to be a human being and a citizen in the 21st Century. The Henry Ford Museum will bring artifacts and its curators will be there to answer questions and discuss the significance of the artifacts. The Detroit Historical Museum will be exhibiting at the festival an artifact from its 1967 exhibition, and students will have opportunities to learn about campus civic engagement.
