Citizen Dialogue: Gerrymandering
Date and time
January 29, 2018 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
About this event
Once again, the Center for the Study of Citizenship is hosting a Citizen Dialogue on a controversial subject. This time we're tackling gerrymandering and representative government.
Most of us have strong opinions one way or the other, and in this time of personalized information streams, sometimes it is hard to understand why smart people can think so differently on this issue. The center is offering a chance to hear smart people on both sides of the issue present what they actually think and why, both with each other and then directly with the audience.
Join us at the Oakland Schools Building in Waterford Township, where former chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Mark Brewer and Republican political consultant Bob LaBrant, moderated by Brian Dickerson of the Detroit Free Press will discuss redistricting.
After the moderated dialogue between the speakers, attendees will participate in a moderated conversation in a coffeehouse-type atmosphere. It’ll be fun! It’ll be democracy! There will be coffee and cookies!
