About this event
Bruce Schneier, chief technical officer, Counterpane Internet Security Inc., and author of Beyond Fear: Thinking Sensibly about Security in an Uncertain World, will deliver this lecture about how security really works.
Putting into perspective a world that has become obsessed with security, Schneier explained that security cannot be thought about in absolutes, but instead in terms of “sensible trade-offs, whether on a personal or global scale.” His entertaining style and practical approach to demystifying security and addressing the real threats we face on a personal, national, and global scale, did much to dispel common hype and illuminate a rational way to think about security, without the fear.
