Center of Study of Citizenship Director, Marc Kruman, spoke with a delegation of female political leaders from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu on June 16.

The visit was sponsored by Global Ties Detroit and the U.S. State Department. The delegation came to Michigan to learn ways to enhance the position of women in public life and were especially interested in the center's work in deliberative democracy and active citizenship.

The delegates' individual and collective achievements were impressive; their presence in Detroit made clear their continued commitment to advancing women's rights and women's power in Tamil Nadu.
